Not only does desexing mean less unwanted animals are born, and help to reduce certain cancers - it also reduces the chances of your pet being lost.
- 3 out of 4 lost pets are not desexed*.
- Desexed pets get into less fights. They are less likely to bullied or injured, which can cause them to run away from home.
- Desexed pets stay closer to home more often. They are less likely to wander and get lost, or be hit by cars.
- Desexed pets are less likely to stolen (or kept if found) if they can’t be bred from.
Of course desexed pets are lost, and stolen too. However, it happens less. Desexing is a good way to help lower the odds your pet will go missing and keep them safely at home.
* More than 70 percent of all found pets at SPCA are not desexed
